The article today was concerned about people stealing metal and selling it for scrap.

Antique ironworks, especially walk gates, landmark types, have been stolen often. The gates can be up to 100 years old. From what I've seen the gates with pin hinges are easy to steal-lift up and away. I don't think these gates are used for scrape metal. I tell people to cable the gate to the railing. I have also seen properties that had chain link walk gates stolen.
