Controversial Fencing Projects

There is a story today about a privacy fence going up at a Planned Parenthood clinic in California. The fence company putting up the fence is now the subject of a boycott.

The politics aside, the question is do you, as a fence company worry about such repercussions on fencing jobs? Have you ever had to endure a backlash from a job you did?

We did a job back in the 80's for a nudist colony. it was located in the middle of nowhere in the Mojave Desert, California. However, some of the local residents of the small community of Newberry Springs were not happy of such riff raff moving into their community. As it turned out the backlash of the community resulted in the nudist colony contracting a second fence around the "campground", just ten feet inside the original fence, for extra security and privacy. So ultimately we doubled our contract. Many people in the community who were familiar with our company wrote letters and made phone calls asking us politely not to work for the nudist colony. The way we looked at it was; if we didn't do it, our competitors would. A job is a job. An honest days work can be performed for someone you may not agree with.
